What I Did

Built a custom web-based ordering portal in 3–4 weeks that:

Core Functionality

  • Accepts orders in client's existing tab-delimited format — zero behavior change required from client
  • Auto-populates customer information by site ID with validation before submission
  • Shopify API automatically updates shipping address on the account when an order is submitted — address changes happen as a byproduct of ordering, with no secondary email requests
  • Full integration with Shopify for order management and fulfillment

Architecture

  • Modular architecture with user management and invitation system
  • Custom "apps" framework for future client-specific solutions
  • Backend powers Shopify-native functionality — all client-facing tools built directly into the platform

Key Approach

Built the system around immovable client behavior while shifting data quality responsibility to the source. Instead of forcing the client to change their workflow, I automated the backend processes while maintaining their familiar interface. The client never had to change a thing — the chaos just stopped on our end.
